Happy Pioneer Day Utah!

I celebrated Pioneer Day by running a 10K race. This race was hard. I'm really glad that it was in the morning because they made us run up a H-U-G-E hill!! Oh man, it was not fun! I walked up the hill so I could save my energy. Since I'm such a slow runner, I probably finished dead last... Oh well. That reminds me of this saying...

DLF > DNF >> DNS
Dead Last Finish
is Greater Than
Did Not Finish
which Greatly Trumps
Did Not Start

Cool huh? It's one of the shirt ideas I've been looking at for my 1/2 marathon.

Troy was able to take the morning off of work to watch the boys while I ran. He just hung out with the boys and then took one bad picture of me when I was coming in the finish line. I won't share... it's not that great.

Let me see, can I talk about anything else
other than running and training??....

The boys are doing ok this summer. It's really hot! We've been staying inside because of the heat. Last weekend, the boys were over at Grandma and Grandpa Anderson's and they stayed out in the sun a little too long. That night, they both threw up and I'm guessing it's because of heat exhaustion. I knew they got too much sun right away because I did that same exact thing t
he week before when I ran outside and the sun was bearing down on me.

Ryan finished his summer school this week so now I have him around until the end of next month when school starts. Come on August 31st!! This year in preschool, he will go to school 4 times a week instead of 3 like last year. I know that he really likes school and he really likes his teacher and aides. I think they are doing a great job with him. We've also set really good goals for him this year. Right now though, we've started Ryan's music therapy again. He has to listen to certain CDs for 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week. Sometimes it's overwhe
lming to keep on top of it, but I know from doing the program in the past, it has helped him alot with his speech and tantrums.

Benjamin is just pluggin' along this summer. He has hit his terrible 2's so he's been a challenge for me lately. One of the hardest things I deal with him on a daily basis is getting him food. He comes to me and says he wants milk but then we get to the fridge and I pull out the milk and he throw
s a tantrum because he wants apple juice. Or, he might want a yogurt but then I get it out for him and he wants apple sauce. That kid. I just have to throw my hands up in the air and breathe!

I have been having good moments with him too...

He's just a crazy kid, you know?

That's all I have for now... until next time!

Our El Paso Trip

I'm finally posting about this trip we took last week because this last week has been so exhausting.

We left last Wednesday (July 1st) and drove 14 1/2 hours down to El Paso. Last Sunday (July 5th), it took us only 13 1/2 hours to get home. I'm not sure why it took us longer to get down there but all that driving really took a toll on us both. The boys did really good in the car. We, of course, had our moments of unpleasantness but we got through it.

My family all met down there for Kelsey's baptism. We really did enjoy the baptism and all the extra fun things we got to do.

On the 3rd of July, Anne's stake held a primary activity. All the kids were suppose to bring their bikes to decorate them for the parade that they would hold at the end of the activity.

I was helping Ryan tape stars on his bike.

He did a really good job with sticking those stars on! I was proud of him.

Ryan's bike all decked out!

Here is Trent and Troy trying to fix Kirsten's bike because it had a flat tire.

Towards the end of the activity, we were all so hot! It was pretty humid down there because it was monsoon season... from what Anne told me. You can tell that Ryan had it...

But, it was a good thing that they had watermelon. Ben was in heaven!

Here are some pictures from the baptism...

Here's Lindsey's youngest... Larkin

And here is Lindsey's middle child... Rainey

Here is the woman of the hour... Miss Kelsey

On the 4th, we went to a little parade there in El Paso. It wasn't anything great and spectacular like here in Provo, but I did get to see Miss El Paso!! That was my highlight of the parade.

At the end of the day, we gathered again at Anne's stake center to watch some fireworks. Here are pictures of me and the boys...

It was still really hot and humid at that hour. That's why I look so horrible! We really did have a lot of fun! We hope that we can get together with my family again soon!
