Happy Birthday to all 3 of us!
Ryan's birthday was the 23rd, Ben's birthday was the 26th, and my birthday is the 30th. We celebrated yesterday with a nice dinner at Troy's parents. We had presents, chocolate pie, and ding dongs for the boys!
This was the best picture I could get of him in the morning. On Ryan's birthday, he didn't have school so I took Ryan and Ben to the Lehi indoor pool. It's a really cool place with lots of slides and other fun stuff to play with. Unfortunately, Ryan didn't like the pool at all! It took me about 5 minutes to get him out of the lobby area and drag him to the pool area. It was not fun but eventually he warmed up a little to it. He didn't even try half of the fun slides or play area though. He just played with some little fountains that were on the sides of the pool. Oh well! I guess we need to go to the pool more often right?!
Well, for Ben's birthday... we stayed home from church. Ben is a little sick with a cold. On Friday, Ben gave it to me so I tried to get as much sleep as I could! It was kind of miserable!
Here is a picture of Ben and my toes...

In the evening, we went over to have a birthday party!!!
Ryan and Ben both got some McQueen and Thomas the Tank Engine plate, bowl, cup, and a cup with a straw...

And, look what I got??!!
I am going to have a good workout this summer! I'm really excited to get started!
I also got an incredible bag from Marianne and Whitney! Whitney actually made the bag for me!! Isn't it SO awesome??!! I love it!!

NO ONE MOURNS THE WICKED!!

Last Thursday, April 23rd, I finally got to get away from being a mommy and go downtown SLC to see the wonderful musical WICKED!! All I can say is OH. MY. WORD! I absolutely loved it! It was SO good!!
Some of the songs that I really liked were: The Wizard and I, What Is This Feeling?, Popular, Defying Gravity, For Good, and the finale of No One Mourns the Wicked!
And... I have something to confess...
I found out more passionately than before... I totally IDOLIZE ELPHABA!!!!! My one true dream of mine is to sing the song Defying Gravity just like her. And when I say her... I mean like the girl who I saw singing it which is Donna Vivino. She is SOOOO good!!!!!
I really did enjoy Katie Rose Clarke who played Glinda. She was very animated and she played the part very well! She kept the audience laughing.
There was something else that was pretty cool at the play. I saw President Monson there! I saw him getting out of his car and going into a side entrance. He was shaking hands with some people and then started to walk away. I, of course, yelled after him. I called him and said, "President Monson, we love you!" Yeah... it gets worse. I actually startled the poor prophet! As Lindsey puts it, "Great Bethany! Give him a heart attack!" You know, after I did that, it got me thinking. That poor man. He can't go anywhere without calling attention to himself. I feel bad now. I should probably call the church office building and tell them to apologize to him for me. Do you think they would really do that for me? Yeah... I didn't think so. Now I get to live with that guilt for the rest of my life. Well, when I catch up with him in the after life, I can apologize and say to him, "Remember that one time where that crazy annoying little girl scared you when you went to go see Wicked? Yeah... that was ME. Sorry about that!"
ANYWAY! BACK TO WICKED!
So, I have the soundtrack and I'm starting to listen to it more and I'm sure I'll have it memorized by next week. We'll see!

More Pictures to SHARE!
Yesterday after dinner at Troy's parents, we went outside for a little fun. Ryan got on his 'Gator' and rode it around the yard. Ben loved to go out there to swing.

Here, Ryan was telling us something that was on his mind...

Ben wasn't getting his way and was throwing one of his tantrums. He arches his back when he's not happy.......

Oh wait... he found a ball and is happy now!

Ben loves to ride in his little car.....

Last but not least, here is one of many self portraits of Ryan...

We'll have more pictures and maybe some videos to share this week since it's BIRTHDAY week!

My NEW plans!!
Since Jessica asked me how my running was going, I thought I'd let everyone in on my good news. My knee is finally feeling better! Thank heavens! I thought I was never going to run again!
As of right now, I am going to my physical therapist 3 times a week. I have to do various exercises with my quads and I also run 1 mile. That's all I've been told to do... only 1 mile a day. I am really grateful that my knee is holding up well.
Since my knee is feeling better, I have already planned 2 races for August. I am going to run a 1/2 marathon at the beginning of August and then there is a triathlon I want to do at the end of August! All I have to say is... my knee better hold up because I'm not going to quit!! I am going to run a 1/2 marathon in my lifetime before it kills me, dang it!
In other news...
Troy is doing well at his new job. He's been working for the company for about a month now. When Lindsey came into town for the 1/2 marathon that I didn't get to run in, Troy had a huge problem at his work. He had to stay up for about 48 hours to work on this problem. He tried to get as much sleep as he could. Luckily, he didn't have to stay at his office. He could do all of his work here from home. That scored some big points with his new boss so I guess we're off to a good start.
Well, here are some other pictures from our Easter...

Heart Breaking News...
Since I recently hurt my knee while running my 5 miles (2 weeks ago), I need to stay off my knee. So, I can't run my half marathon this Saturday. I am completely and utterly disappointed. I have been training for this race since September 08.
My sister, Lindsey, is still flying up here to run even though I can't. I guess I just have to cheer her on and ride my bike to do it.
Right now, I need to get my knee better so I can run in another race in the near future. I am also starting to think about training for those sprint triathlons. I have a lot of work to do if I want to compete in those. I need to swim better and ride a bike better. I'm pretty good at the running part.
Lindsey also told me about a relay race that she did last year. She ran with 11 other girls from San Antonio to Austin and they all had a blast! I think I would like to do that with her. My other sister, Anne, wants to do that too. That would be fun to run with my sisters in a relay.
Please pray for my knee. I'm pretty upset with that part of my body right now...

Ensign
I just came across a good article in the March 2009 Ensign. It is called "Becoming Self-Reliant Spiritually and Physically." There is a quote in there that I thought was pretty good...
President Ezra Taft Benson (1899-1994) said: "The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature."
When I read this quote, I immediately thought about Oprah and all the good acts of service she does... like giving people new cars, new houses, or new makeovers. I'm not saying that Oprah is wrong for doing these things but I realized that Christ takes it a step further and gives people a different and new lesson. If they work really hard and figure out a way to make themselves more self-reliant, they will enjoy their new environment but also gain the experience and learned their own lessons that Christ wanted them to learn. I think in the long run, I would rather go Christ's way then have someone give me something for free and not realize the work I would have put into getting it.
Is there something else I'm missing from this quote from President Benson? What are your insights?
